Finding Nature – Chicago Area

Are you in the Chicagoland area? There are so many nature preserves and opportunities to explore nature here. Below is a map of some places you might want to check out in Will and DuPage Counties. As I expand my explorations, I’ll add to the list. If you have any recommendations, send me a message or post to the Facebook page!

A few of my favorite places in DuPage County are McDowell Forest Preserve, Springbrook Prairie, and Herrick Lake. The Morton Arboretum is also a great place to check out in this area.

Additional Illinois Places of Interest

Starved Rock State Park – State park with 13 miles of trails to explore. Waterfall, forest hiking, and trails along the Illinois River.

Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie – Largest land that makes up the Chicago Wilderness area. Not only is it a restored prairie, but there are herd of bison roaming the land.
